Word Wisdom is a helpful resource for students to learn vocabulary in context. By using context clues and analyzing word parts, students can unlock the meaning of new words and phrases.

In each unit, students will activate their prior knowledge, use context clue strategies, and analyze roots to interpret unfamiliar words. The selected words are Tier Two academic words that appear frequently in written text across subjects.

This student book contains a year’s worth of lessons, with 270 new vocabulary words divided into 9 thematic units. Each unit includes individual lessons with reading passages, context clue strategies, and exercises to unlock, process, and apply the meanings of the words. At the end of each unit, there is a review section and a practice test.

This Grade 3 course covers various themes such as communication, sight, movement, living things, measurement, work/money, language/writing, and the law. Students will also learn specific Greek and Latin roots like sta, cap, cept, cruc, and others, as well as develop reference skills.
