The Singapore Math Primary Mathematics: Common Core Edition books have been updated to align with the CCSS, ensuring they meet the standards without reducing difficulty. If the CCSS called for content to be introduced later, Singapore Math didn’t move content from the earlier level but revisited it more in-depth at the CCSS level.

The Primary Mathematics workbooks are consumable and should be used with the corresponding textbooks; these Common Core Edition workbooks are not compatible with other Singapore editions. They contain independent student exercises that provide essential practice for skill mastery, corresponding to each chapter in the textbook. Various exercises are presented in the concrete>pictorial>abstract approach, including calculating whole numbers, fractions, perimeter and area, and ratio. This 176-page softcover workbook is for Grades 5-6. Workbook 5A is designed for the 1st semester of the Grade 5 year and precedes the 5B curriculum.

This workbook accompanies the sold-separately Primary Mathematics Common Core Edition Textbook 5A. Answer keys are not included but can be found in the Primary Mathematics Common Core Teacher’s Guide 5A.
