Susan Wise Bauer’s Writing with Skill is designed for students to work through independently, with instructions directed at the student. Organized by days, each step guides students progressively through the workbook. The course covers the essentials of composition, outlining, sentence skills, introductory literary criticism of poetry and prose, writing narratives and descriptions, and researching and documenting sources. It culminates with a final project. With extensive literary models and step-by-step instructions, students will develop the tools to write with clarity and confidence. All source material is included; however, students will need a separate book for writing their assignments. This course is suitable for grades 5-8 and contains 544 pages in a softcover format.
