Description
A strong vocabulary is essential for success in tests, writing, and effective communication in everyday situations. Using a contextual approach, Wordly Wise 3000 teaches students how to approach unfamiliar words by identifying similarities to known words, using the word in context, breaking it down into parts, and looking it up. The series comprises 3,000 carefully selected words from literature, textbooks, and SAT-prep books. Each lesson in Book 7 starts with a Word List containing pronunciations, parts of speech, concise definitions, and the words used in contextual sentences. The book consists of 20 lessons, each containing 15 words. In Book 7, the focus is on equipping students with strategies to understand words they will encounter in various texts, literature, and high-stakes tests. Comprehension of vocabulary is reinforced through Greek and Latin word studies, emphasizing prefixes, suffixes, parts of speech, synonyms, antonyms, and analogies. The third edition retains the word lists from the second edition but updates the passages and questions, assigning measures from The Lexile Framework for Reading. Please note that the 3rd Edition is not compatible with 2nd Edition teacher’s guides and resources. Wordly Wise 3000 Book 7 includes words like flabbergast, formidable, grueling, illustrious, lavish, maneuver, naive, perturb, replenish, smolder, ungainly, vulnerable, and more. The book features 216 two-tone pages in softcover. Please note that this item is available for purchase by Homeschools only.
